Revolutionizing Italian Dining: The Cavaliere Restaurant

Designer Konstantinos Gkagkos' Award-Winning Blend of Aesthetics and Functionality

The Cavaliere draws its inspiration from Italian tradition, but with a twist. Instead of relying on rustic or outdated elements, Gkagkos has delivered a space of high aesthetics and finesse. The seating area can adapt to the weather, functioning as an open space for customers to enjoy sunny days and fresh air. The luxurious atmosphere is further enhanced by the unique gold pizza wooden ovens, providing a soothing feeling of traditional Italian food.

What sets the Cavaliere apart is its multidimensional decoration. Gkagkos utilized a wide range of materials, including golden metallic elements, green marble, and luxurious velvet fabrics. The result is a space that exudes a sense of glamour and art deco, without losing sight of its Italian roots.

The restaurant consists of three distinct parts: the entrance, bar area, and the seating-table area, each with its own unique design elements. The open space kitchen allows customers to witness the preparation of their meals, adding another layer of engagement to their dining experience. Different sources of lighting are used to emphasize the architectural details, creating a visually stunning environment.

The design process, which took place from June to November 2021 in Nea Smyrni, Athens, Greece, was not without its challenges. The aim was to create something fresh and distinctive, rather than a typical 'Italian Restaurant' in terms of architecture and design. The design team introduced nature and the color green into the interior decoration, offering feelings of relaxation, calm, and friendliness to the viewer.

The Cavaliere is a testament to the power of innovative design in transforming dining experiences. It is a space that not only serves delicious Italian food but also provides a unique, luxurious, and aesthetically pleasing environment for its customers. The success of this design is evident in its recognition by the prestigious A' Design Award, a testament to Gkagkos' outstanding expertise and innovation.
